Matters of the Heart

Luke 12:32-59    Genesis 22    Psalm 15

“Where your treasure is, there your heart is also” (Luke 12:34). I suggest that we read and reflect upon today’s texts through the lense of this statement. Genesis 22 – Psalm 15 – Luke 12:32-59 . . . What we treasure, or what we value most highly,  has a direct influence on our priorities, preparedness, behaviors, and choices. How has this played out in your own life??? I’d love to hear from you!

Lord God, you have given us much; may we manage well the gifts we have received. And may we reflect your priorities in the living of our lives. We pray these things in the name of your Son, who gave his all for us. Amen.

God should be #1 in our lives and our children second. We are simply trustees of these precious gifts. I have always put my child before my job(s) and have even lost jobs because of that- but God has always taken care of me and my family. When you make it a priority to train up your child in the ways of the Lord, you are not only pleasing God, but are producing a life that will contribute something to your community. So yes, I think our children should be what we value and we should make them our priority.
