God Working

John 10:22-42    2 Chronicles 9    Psalm 74

Once you have read the day’s texts, I invite you to further reflect upon a portion of these scriptures following a “lectio divina” pattern. May God work within your soul during this time of quiet listening. Amen.

“Yet God my King is from of old, working salvation in the earth.”  – Psalm 74:12

“If I am not doing the works of my Father, then do not believe me. But if I do them, even though you do not believe me, believe the works, so that you may know and understand that the Father is in me and I am in the Father.” — John 10:37-38

Listen. Hear God Speaking. Prayerfully read Psalm 74:12 and John 10:37-38 three times, each time answering these questions:
What?  (What word or phrase strikes me most in the texts at this moment?)
So What?  (What is going on in my life that is influencing my hearing?)
Now What? (What is God encouraging me to be and do in my circumstance now?)
As this time of listening draws to a close, give yourself over to God in prayer. Allow the prayer of Samuel to guide you: “Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening” (1 Samuel 3:9-10).

Share The Word.  What spoke to you in these scriptures? What work of salvation is God doing in you now? What work is God calling you into as a response to the word? Consider sharing with someone today any insights gained . . .

“You are like a jar of river water all shaken up. What you need is to sit still long enough that the sediment can settle and the water can become clear.”
